The Windows version of Super Start is now available and still free! Click here to download it.
Please note that you will need the Windows version if your operating system is more recent than Windows 95 (XP, 2000, etc.). This DOS version needs something called direct port access. More recent versions of Windows do not allow direct port access.
This is where the shareware can be downloaded free of charge. It's fully operational with no time-outs or other restrictions, and will display the images silently when no hardware is detected.
While the software is free, donations through PayPal to keep this site alive are more than welcome!
Please remember that Super Start is designed to run on older technology computers, since there are millions of them in attics, garages, warehouses, etc., and millions more thrown away. For the same reason, Super Start runs under DOS. If you are running Windows 3.x, you should be able to simply go to a DOS window to run Super Start. The same will probably work for Windows 95 -- just go to a DOS window. If that doesn't work, go into start, then to shut down, then click restart under DOS. Super Start will not run under NT due to Super Start's direct port access.
You will need a little over 5 megs if you download everything that's listed.
I hope you will consider letting others know about Super Start. Just high-light the following, copy it and drop it in a few emails (your whole list, for example):

I hope you will drop me an e-mail letting me know how you are going to use Super Start, then others to let me know how it's working.

The self-extracting file SUPER100.EXE contains a fully functional basic Super Start system with no timeouts or other restrictions. It needs about 1,000,000 bytes when it's expanded with SUPER100.EXE included, and about 711,000 bytes if SUPER100.EXE is deleted. All of the resulting files will fit on a 3 1/2" disk. SUPER100.EXE includes MANUAL.TXT, Super Start's manual, and all other major data and executable files mentioned in the article. It does not include any source or hardware reference or construction files. They can be downloaded below, along with other packages.
Put SUPER100.EXE in a directory (folder) called SUPER, get in DOS if your are running Windows, type in super100, then press the enter key. You could also just double click on SUPER100.EXE, but you will eventually need to be in DOS anyway.
That's all there is to it. You can then delete SUPER100.EXE or save it somewhere for other distribution.
To run Super Start, just get into a full DOS window as described above, type in the word super then press the enter key. It will also run in the command line mode (see MANUAL.TXT). It will run silently without the hardware so you can get an idea of what it does.

1.00 -- 310,000 bytes
The self-extracting file TEST.exe provides executibles and other files for testing Super Start. It needs about 400,000 bytes fully expanded.
Put TEST.exe in a directory under SUPER called TEST (\SUPER\TEST), then simply double click on test.exe or type in test then the enter key to expand it from DOS.
Download TEST.exe -- 130,000 bytes
The self-extracting file SOURCE.exe contains all of the source code and code building files for Super Start. It needs about 1,380,000 bytes fully expanded.
Put SOURCE.exe in a directory under SUPER called SOURCE (\SUPER\SOURCE), then simply double click on source.exe or type in source and the enter key to expand it in a DOS window.
Download SOURCE.exe -- 217,000 bytes
The zip file SUPER100.ZIP is the whole kielbasa. It contains all of the basic Super Start system files, construction and hardware documents, test files and source files. It needs a about 5 megs fully expanded, and about 4 megs without the zip file.
Extract SUPER100.ZIP into the root directory with WinZip which can be downloaded free of charge. It will build the \SUPER, \SUPER\SOURCE SUPER\DOCS and \SUPER\TEST folders and extract the files.
Download SUPER100.ZIP -- 2,000,000 bytes
The file BUILDIT.DOC shows how to put the special Super Start hardware together if it is used, and is about 1,200,000 bytes. It's in Word 97 format. If you don't have Word 97, you can Download A Free Reader from Microsoft's web site. You might need to right click on BUILDIT.DOC and do a "save target as" to keep your word processor from trying to load it.
Put BUILDIT.DOC in a directory below SUPER called DOCS (\SUPER\DOCS).
Download BUILDIT.DOC -- Super Start
Construction Document -- 1,226,000 bytes
The file HARDWARE.DOC shows how the Super Start hardware works and is about 160,000 bytes. It's also in Word 97 format. As above, you might need to right click on it and do a "save target as" to keep your word processor from trying to load it.
Put HARDWARE.DOC in a directory below SUPER called DOCS (\SUPER\DOCS).
Download HARDWARE.DOC -- Super Start Description Document -- 160,000 bytes
